An Updated Holistic Look at Old Assumptions: Insights from Three New Studies on Roof Albedo

K&H’s Jason Wilen is a co-author in a feature article in the January 2025 issue of Interface Magazine. The article presents insights gleaned from three new studies. 1) Literature review on the impact of membrane color and roof albedo on energy efficiency and urban heat islands. 2) Comparative analysis of the effect of local cool-roof policies on urban heat islands. 3) A comparison of code-compliant roof insulations and roof albedo impacts and benefits.  Check out the article to see recommendations for future research and conclusions regarding policy implications.
