Meet the Interns! They are all settled in, and we are proud to have new and returning faces joining us this summer.
New to K&H:
Michael Chan (A/E Group), a third-year grad student at UIUC, is pursuing a Master of Architecture and an M.S. in Construction Management and is set to graduate this winter. From Aurora, IL, Michael sought a role focused on details and hands-on construction site experiences, which K&H provided. Fun Facts: Michael is a lifelong Bulls fan, fondly remembers watching Derrick Rose play, and swam competitively for 16 years. His interests in STEM and art, inspired by his sister who is an architect, led to his dual degrees.
John Field (A/E Group) is a second-year Architecture grad student at UIUC, with a Bachelor’s in Architectural Studies. Growing up near Chicago, he chose K&H for its focus on restoration and preservation, inspired by his U of I projects. Fun Fact: John created a Pokémon-style video game for an elective class, focused on finding lost drawings in a studio space before final reviews. Though never published, it remains a cherished memory on his flash drive.
Grace Graziani (Structural Group), from Schererville, IN, will be a senior at the University of Dayton for Civil Engineering. She knew she wanted to be an engineer since second grade and joined K&H because she was inspired by our CEO, Homa Ghaemi. Grace plans to pursue her master’s degree after graduating. Fun Facts: Grace is a Taylor Swift fan, attended the Eras Tour last summer, loves the TV Show, “Pretty Little Liars,” and takes boxing classes.
Returning for a second summer to K&H:
Chang Chen (A/E Group) is a second-year Master’s student in Architecture at UIUC. She returned to K&H because it feels like a warm family, and she has learned a lot while enjoying her work with everyone here. Fun Facts: Chang loves playing badminton and recently traveled to Peru for two weeks with her professor and studio friends. They visited Lima and Cusco, explored vibrant local markets, enjoyed Peruvian cuisine, and learned about Peruvian tradition, culture, and lifestyle. Chang loved how Peruvians gather to sing and dance, especially on Friday afternoons in public spaces.
Emily Kerstetter (Structural Group) just graduated in Civil Engineering from Cornell and will start an M.Eng. in Architectural Engineering at Penn State this fall. Emily loves working in the city, visiting projects, and focusing on sustainable building. Fun Facts: Emily enjoys “Lord of the Rings” and “The West Wing.” She has 10 years of Irish dance experience, inspired by Riverdance back in kindergarten, and participated in numerous shows. She was a competitive band kid in high school.
Join us in welcoming these talented individuals to the K&H family and celebrating their unique backgrounds and passions.
