History
In 1969, a collaborative structural engineering effort between Frank Klein and Edward Hoffman initiated a long and prosperous professional relationship. By combining their technical experience in architectural, structural and civil Engineering, they provided a diverse, yet cohesive scope of services. Over the years, Klein and Hoffman prospered and became recognized leaders in their profession. Over forty years later, Klein and Hoffman continues to provide structural and restoration engineering services from multiple offices nationwide.

Relationship formed with Greeley and Hansen

New York City Department of Environmental Protection initiates over 40 year relationship
1967
John C. Handzel, R.A. joins the firm
1969
Frank Klein and Edward S. Hoffman, S.E., P.E. work together on Fort Wayne National Bank Building
1975
Edward Hoffman joins the firm
1976
Engineering division of the firm changes name to Klein and Hoffman, Inc.
1978
First branch office is opened in Philadelphia, PA under the leadership of Jagdish Syal, S.E., P.E.
1979
The firm promotes four engineers: Robert S. Jones, Jagdish S. Syal, Satish K. Sachdev and Jay H. Paul and an architect John C. Handzel to Vice President
1980
Klein and Hoffman, Inc. is reorganized after Frank Klein and Edward Hoffman sell their stock to five Vice Presidents within the firm

Jay H. Paul, S.E., P.E. promoted to Vice President of the Buildings and Bridges Group

Frank Klein, ASCE Fellow receives a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Illinois Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers for over 50 years of extensive society involvement including serving as president in 1964

John C. Handzel retires after 26 years of advancing the development of the firm's rehabilitation and building envelope restoration practices
