Carl Dress to Lead K&H Philadelphia Office

Carl Dress, AIA has been tapped to lead the Philadelphia office of Chicago-based architectural and structural engineering firm Klein & Hoffman. Dress was most recently with Heritage Design Collaborative in Philadelphia, a firm he co-founded. Dress is a historic preservation expert charged with growing the Klein & Hoffman presence in Philadelphia.

Dress, who serves as co-chair of AIA Philadelphia, Historic Preservation Committee and adjunct professor at Thomas Jefferson University, has more than 25 years of residential design, historic preservation and adaptive reuse to broaden the firm’s scope of work.

“Klein & Hoffman has a long history with Philadelphia, and I look forward to building a strong team to preserve Philadelphia’s history and its structures,” says Dress.

Dress is currently leading façade restoration projects at Overbook Presbyterian Church and Church of the Holy Trinity. Both churches date back to the mid 1800’s. Most recently, Dress completed the award-winning restoration of the East Park Canoe House on Philadelphia’s Boathouse Row.

“Carl is an excellent addition to the Klein & Hoffman culture and will be able to help us expand our Philadelphia office,” says CEO Homa Ghaemi. “His experience in adaptive reuse and historical preservation aligns with the mission and goals of the company. Knowledge of the city and its history will not only help identify the ideal projects but also develop  staff to execute them.”
