Structural Rehabilitation/ Adaptive Reuse

PROJECT: 399 West Fullerton Parking Garage

Featured Structural Rehabilitation Projects/ Adaptive Reuse Projects

Project Challenge:

The Condominium Association understood that their 60-year old parking garage was in extreme need of repair, but they needed a consultant with extensive knowledge of parking structure rehabilitation in order to complete the project.

Project Solution:

Klein and Hoffman (K&H) conducted a condition assessment to quantify the necessary repairs and develop appropriate solutions.

After reviewing the possibility of performing isolated repairs, K&H determined that the most cost-effective solution was to completely remove the existing slab and replace it with a new system.

K&H developed new concrete collars to support the replacement floor. Prior to demolition all columns were braced to prevent the floors above from collapsing.

K&H successfully designed and directed this project through construction with minimal disruption to the condominium unit owners.
