Recitation Hall, c.1893, is the oldest remaining building on campus.  The 12,950 SF building is comprised of limestone and historically significant serpentine stone, indigenous to Chester County and Northern Maryland and no longer quarried for exterior use.  K&H, in association with an architectural conservator, performed a comprehensive hands-on condition assessment of the masonry and developed construction documents.  To preserve the serpentine stone aesthetic, the University directed that the salvageable stones be patched with a proprietary cementitious mortar in colors matching the existing remaining sound stone.
