A severely deteriorated 1901 shipping terminal was rehabilitated to serve as a state-of-the-art municipal solid waste barge transfer facility.  Portions of the structure were salvaged and incorporated into the renovated facility to meet New York City’s stringent land use requirements.  The project included extensive remodeling, replacement and modernization of architectural, structural, foundation, HVAC and electrical systems.  The remodeled facility consists of an approach platform, enclosed access ramp, truck dumping floor, barge berthing areas and a two-story Operations Building.
