Bridge 5.03, constructed in the early 1900’s, required full superstructure replacement.  The bridge carries SEPTA’s Mainline rail traffic and SEPTA could only allow one half to be taken out of service for an extended time period.  K&H designed an innovative roll-in structure to replace the critical half of the bridge during a single, 52-hour weekend shutdown.  K&H also designed repairs to strengthen and rehabilitate the adjacent Bridge 5.03A, also dating to the early 1900’s.
