The Chicago Park District’s three-phase restoration effort for this Prairie School style Chicago landmark boathouse looked at every element of the building from the foundation to the roof.  The implementation of a new elevator required the elimination of the existing roof truss system.  A new system was designed that allowed for the removal of the existing truss system and incorporated the structural requirements of the new elevator.  Throughout the project, K&H coordinated its restoration efforts with expert craftsmen to ensure the restoration was historically accurate.
