Corrosion and loss of section in the seams of the steel floating cover skirt had allowed methane gas to leak.  To prevent distortion and unbalanced forces on the cover framing, K&H developed a scheme to uniformly raise the cover with hydraulic jacks connected to 22 jacking posts/cylinders.  Once elevated above the tank, the skirt corrosion was removed and repairs implemented at the seams through welding and coating of new steel strip plates.
