Constructed in 1927, this heavy repair maintenance facility serves SEPTA’s Broad Street Subway fleet. Roofing system failures and long-term water infiltration problems prompted SEPTA to utilize K&H’s vast restoration experience to develop repair details to mitigate water infiltration through the historic gypsum roof deck and to repair the deteriorated masonry façade. The work also included repair and replacement of glazed and polychrome terra cotta ornamentation and replacement of deteriorated steel framing members.
