Klein and Hoffman acted as structural team lead for the multi-discipline design team contracted to modernize the solid waste removal program of the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY). Steel superstructures atop a variety of pile-supported piers and land foundations were designed at eight waterfront locations in four different boroughs. Various site structures including blast-rated transformer vaults were also included in the project.
