Klein and Hoffman - Structural and Restoration Engineers

K&H provided structural engineering services from design through construction for this new 1-story 14,244 SF convention hall.  The design is reminiscent of the original 1917 building that was destroyed by a hurricane in 1962.  The steel-framed building is pile supported and utilizes cast-in-place concrete pile caps and floor beams to support a 12-inch thick, precast, solid concrete plank floor.  The exterior of the building is clad in precast concrete sandwich panels and an aluminum storefront curtainwall system.  The structural design incorporated International Building Code requirements for flood and hurricane resistant construction and the cladding was designed to meet Miami-Dade protocol for impact from debris.
