Project Challenge:
Ongoing air and water infiltration, poor operation and thermal
inefficiency prompted the need for window replacement in this
1960's condominium building.
Project Solution:
Klein and Hoffman (K&H) worked closely with the association
to select a high performance window system with features and
upgrades that best suited their needs.
Frame finishes and tinted glass were selected to complement
the existing masonry facades.
AC sleeve and grill replacements were also performed in conjunction
with the window replacement work. Unique features of this installation
included substantial steel wall reinforcement being concealed
within the new window system, special detailing to accommodate
existing undulating concrete slab conditions and use of an exterior
mast platform system for installation access.
Removal of window debris and movement of new materials occurred
primarily from the exterior, thus reducing the potential for
damage, wear and tear on the building interiors and elevator
components.
Lobby and rooftop solarium areas were also replaced with coordinated
window systems as part of the final program.
